Meet The Team

Moise Fokou, Chief Operating Officer

"The Field Commander"

What is your role, and what does a typical day at Chasen look like?

As COO, I oversee the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of Chasen Companies. When I’m not in the office working with vendors to do takeoffs (working out pricing for various aspects of the job) or preparing internal reports, you can catch me running around to one of our many development sites to secure real time progress updates on our projects. On average we have three sites under construction at any given time.

What is a hobby of yours that you believe is beneficial in the workplace?

Coming from such an active background for most of my life, I enjoy walking, which is important because I do a lot of it on any given work day.

What Baltimore community is your favorite?

I really enjoy spending time in the Downtown Baltimore Inner Harbor area, as well as Fells Point, Federal Hill and Canton communities. Rowhouse Grill in Federal Hill has the best wings in my opinion--I always bring friends and visitors from out of town here to see if they agree with me.

App you can’t live without?

I’m all over the weather app. I depend on it often since I’m always scheduling the work week for our construction team and weather can have a big impact on our progress. However, I have to admit in my spare time Tik Tok has been a guilty pleasure of mine.

First job?

My first job was working at a Domino’s pizza when I was in high school.  I held a variety of roles there--from hand delivering flyers on people’s doors in neighborhoods around Bethesda, to taking orders in the store, to folding boxes, working the assembly line and eventually running the night shift.

You have 30 minutes of free time - how do you spend it?

To be honest, I would catch up on what’s going on in the world by getting lost on Instagram or Twitter.  I follow a lot of health/fitness accounts, news about the University of Maryland (I’m an alumni), sports news from ESPN, as well as business, stocks and markets news.

Design, build or tear-down? What are your dream projects?

I am all for building. I love everything we do on the operations and construction side. Of course, there is an office component, but my passion is being in the field and being able to touch and see what’s going on.
