Meet The Team

Drew Peace: Head of Business Development

"The Deal Maker"

What is your role, and what does a typical day at Chasen look like?

I have a number of roles at Chasen, so a typical day is hard to describe. My background is in commercial real estate, so I handle all purchases/acquisitions and commercial leasing transactions; however, my main role is to discover properties for ownership to develop or redevelop.

I have a detailed process I follow when we find a new property of interest to ensure it fits our model which requires running proformas and reports before presenting the property to our team. If the deal makes sense, I handle the deal negotiations and drafting the purchase agreement.

What is a hobby of yours that you believe is beneficial in the workplace?

Golf. The sport allows you to have four, uninterrupted hours with someone. If you’re focusing on building relationships and developing business, getting 30 minutes of someone's time is difficult. Ask them to play golf, and you get four hours of their time, with very little distractions. Plus, the relaxed environment allows for conversations to flow naturally.

What Baltimore community is your favorite?

Fells Point. I love the history of the old shipyards, the cobblestone roads, and the restaurant and bar scene.

App you can’t live without?

Venmo

First job?

I worked for a startup doing sales and marketing. This experience taught me how to be a self-starter and wear a lot of hats. It also taught me at an early age to be a problem-solver and just get things done without asking too many questions. I had to manage my time, as things were moving quickly in 100 different directions. Time management is so important in any job, I feel my first job really made me learn this quickly.

You have 30 minutes of free time - how do you spend it?

Free time is rare with two little kids, but when I do get 30 minutes, I spend it taking a quick nap!

Design, build or tear-down? What are your dream projects?

Build! Baltimore is a great city with so much potential. It’s really exciting to be a part of what we’re doing at Chasen. Many of the properties we are developing have not been touched for years, or even decades! We’re bringing these historic properties back to life and turning them into liveable, usable and beautiful spaces.
