CHASEN COMPANIES UNVEILS PLANS FOR 272 APARTMENTS AND 55,000 SF OF RETAIL IN HARBOR EAST

Two mixed-use properties to be developed at 600 S. Caroline and 1400 Aliceanna

(Baltimore, MD) November 4, 2021 Chasen Companies, a leading multifamily, commercial, and single-family developer specializing in the Greater Baltimore and Washington, DC markets, today unveils its plans for two mixed-use buildings in Harbor East located at 600 S. Caroline St. and 1400 Aliceanna St. While the design for the properties is intended to complement each other, they will remain two separate buildings.

“We are excited to announce our plans for 600 S. Caroline and 1400 S. Aliceanna, two additions to the Chasen portfolio that are right in our wheelhouse. Their location is prime--situated within blocks of downtown Fells Point as well as the dozens of upscale shops and restaurants in Harbor East and Harbor Point. As we bring our vision to life, we’re excited to bring a fresh aesthetic, amenities, retail and common space that the whole community can benefit from,” said Brandon Chasen, CEO of Chasen Companies.

“Along with our typical modern building upgrades, we are planning a beautification of the sidewalks that further connects Fells Point and Harbor East,” said Paul Davis, Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Chasen Companies. “Some of the largest pedestrian-friendly walkways in Baltimore will be lined with a mix of greenery, benches and outdoor seating, and bike racks. The community will have access to amenities and a healthy mix of national and local retailers located on the first floor of each property.”

600 S. Caroline

The century-old property, originally home to a GMC Parts distribution center followed by the Meyer Seed Company, will be developed into a five-story mixed-use property with 100 one-bedroom and 72 two-bedroom luxury boutique apartments as well as 41,000 square feet of commercial space for a large retail tenant, and reserved garage parking. Chasen Companies, experienced in maintaining historic heritage in dozens of Baltimore properties, will preserve the property’s existing architecture. The top half will feature large windows, and an elevated bar deck with green space for residents to enjoy.

1400 Aliceanna

Over the last several decades, the property has transitioned from the H.D. Dreyer Company,  a maker of wooden boxes for Coca-Cola and Pepsi, to the home of Shepherd Electric in 1969, to a general warehouse space. Chasen Companies’ designs for 1400 Aliceanna bring the property into the 21st Century. The five-story mixed-use building will feature 80 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom luxury boutique apartments as well as 12,200 square feet of commercial space for retail tenants. Amenities include a movie theater room, billiards lounge, outdoor courtyard, bike storage, lounge area and reserved garage parking.

“600 S Caroline and 1400 Aliceanna are a prime example of Chasen Companies’ passion to improve Baltimore communities without losing their historic charm,” said Erin Black, Chief Marketing Officer at Chasen Companies. “By revitalizing a warehouse district into a destination for the community to live, work and shop, we will truly connect Harbor East and Fells Point, while still paying homage to the decades of industrial history that happened here.”
